From how to Air Seal your windows for better heat retention, down to what type of light bulbs give the best lighting as well as cost to use! This guide is a MUST HAVE for any DIY'er

The Opalco Snap Shot Inspection is a simple energy inspection that will give you an professional idea of where you are at in your energy consumption. The Snap Shot inspection begins with a Building Performance Institute certified contractor inspecting your insulation, windows and doors, heating system ventilation and air quality as well as your appliances and lighting. Appliances aren't just your blender and Coffee Maker. A lot of the Appliances we take for granted everyday are the largest power drains on our overall power consumption. Things like Washers, Dryers, Refrigerators and Dish Washers have the potential use use a SCARY amount of energy to operate. When buying new appliances look for the "Energy Star" Certification to see what your new appliance will use. The Community Energy Challenge makes achieving energy efficiency as easy as possible from start to finish. We provide each participating household and business with quality information, a full energy assessment, a customized energy action plan detailing cost-effective measures, assistance with utility and tax rebates, reliable contractors, and quality assurance. High EFFICIENCY Heat pumps

Cost - $600-$3000

High Efficieny Ductless Heat pumps are quite, easy to operate and consume radically less energy than traditional Heating systems. Considering that Home Heating and Cooling typically accounts for more than 70% of Energy Consumption in most homes, Ductless Heat Pumps (Sometimes called Mini-Splits) are a wonderful way to have your cake and eat it too. Get the same great indoor climate control, while spending less money per month to use it! The only downside is that they can be somewhat expensive at first.
